• Libraries Committee
  • Coordinates parent/staff lending library and student library. Purchases materials for the libraries. Maintains and distributes updated listing of materials to Vista families and staff.
  • Parent Directory Coordinator
  • Gathers student/family contact information and compiles information into directory, edited in conjunction with the PTO Secretary, to be distributed to families. 
  • Homeroom Parents Coordinator
  • Recruits one parent from each classroom to serve as that room’s Homeroom Parent. In conjunction with Vista staff and PTO Executive Board, sets classroom holiday party dates according to school calendar.  Communicates classroom holiday party dates to Homeroom Parents and encourages Homeroom Parents to work closely with their classroom teacher to plan appropriate activities and refreshments for the classroom.  Working with the PTO Secretary, invites Vista families to participate in school parties when appropriate.


  • Staff Appreciation Committee
  • Coordinates all aspects of Staff Appreciation events at Vista.  Events are held quarterly and are either potluck (with food provided by the committee and Vista families) or purchased (on staff in-service days).  Staff Appreciation committee works with Vista staff to schedule events; working with the PTO Secretary, communicate with parents and staff regarding date and theme of events; set up events, ensuring that any necessary paper goods and serving implements are on hand; and cleaning up afterwards, ensuring that all serving dishes and implements are returned to those who provided them.
  • Childcare/Respite Events Committee
  • Works with Vista staff to provide child care for evening PTO meetings and other events as appropriate, working with PTO Treasurer to secure payment for caregivers.  Coordinates all aspects of Respite Afternoons for Vista Families—establish date(s) for events in consultation with Vista Staff, distribute sign up information to families, seek staff caregivers, confirm registration with families and distribute guidelines for participation, provide ice cream sundae bar for participants, arrange for payment to all caregivers in conjunction with the PTO Treasurer, and distribute thank you notes and payment to caregivers.
  • Parent Training Events Committee
  • Works with appropriate Vista staff members to arrange all details of informational events of interest to Vista families.  Working with the PTO Secretary, communicates information about events to families and staff.  Working with the PTO Childcare/Respite Events Committee, arranges to provide child care if needed.
  • Family Support Committee
  • Works with appropriate Vista staff to initiate parent support and sibling support groups, which will gather in facilitated meetings periodically to discuss issues of interest and need.


  • Golf Tournament Committee
  • Responsible for all aspects of planning for the annual Vista Golf Tournament.  Committee to include Chair, Co-chair, Raffle Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator.  Committee is responsible for establishing planning timeline; reserving golf course; working with the PTO secretary to produce all communications pertaining to the event (including but not limited to: tournament brochure, donor/sponsor information piece for Vista families and staff, raffle information, donor thank you note); seeking donations of goods and services for the event as well as for the accompanying raffle; coordinating volunteer help for the day of the event.
  • Walk for Education Committee
  • Coordinates all aspects of the Walk for Education event, usually held in October.  Sets the date for the event in consultation with PTO Administrative Representative.  Communicates the date, sponsorship needs and permission for participation to Vista families and staff.  Obtains raffle prizes.  Encourages family participation the day of the event.
  • Box Tops for Education Coordinator
  • encourages Vista community to save Box Tops from General Mills products and send them into school for cash return.  Collects and submits Box Tops.
  • Giant A+ Program Coordinator
  • Enrolls Vista in the Giant A+ Program each year; encourages Vista community to register Giant BonusCards online or by returning a registration form to the coordinator’s attention to benefit Vista (purchases during the term of the program generate a cash return for the school); responsible for entering BonusCard numbers of those registering by paper form on Giant website.
  • Recycling Program Coordinator
  • Coordinates all aspects of recycling fundraiser, communicating need for used print cartridges and cellular phones to Vista community and submitting items received to appropriate program for cash return.


  • PTO Executive Committee—includes PTO President, PTO Vice President, PTO Treasurer, PTO Secretary and PTO Administrative Representative.
  • Meets as necessary to brainstorm and discuss any pressing issues prior to PTO Executive Board action.
  • PTO Finance Committee—Chaired by PTO Treasurer and open to any interested PTO members.
  • Responsible for providing PTO Financial Report at all PTO meetings as well as filing any required tax documentation with the appropriate regulatory authority (ie. IRS)
  • PTO Nominating Committee
  • Includes PTO Secretary as well as 2 PTO Executive Board at-large members (PTO President is not eligible to serve on this committee).  Responsible for composing a slate of officers and PTO Executive Board candidates for PTO elections held in May.  Ensures slate is completed and distributed to Vista families no later than one week prior to election date (as required by PTO Bylaws).
  • PTO ListServ Coordinator—Beth Fine, Carole DeInnocentiis (backup)
  • maintains member listing of PTO’s Yahoo Groups ListServ and approves posts and files added to the site according to established guidelines/terms of use.
  • PTO School Website Coordinator
  • Responsible for developing content and maintaining PTO area of Vista School Website.
